k9HS - AKC Urban Canine Good Citizen

Service Description

Join our weekly class to learn the skills necessary to take the Exam. This class is only for dogs that have already completed basic training including on-leash walking, basic commands and have manners and boundaries when interacting with other dogs and humans. Class is in Person at a Public Access Area (Mask and social distancing at least 6 feet are both required) AKC Urban CGC is a public access test that demonstrates dogs are well-behaved and well-trained when in public settings. The Urban CGC test can be used by dog- friendly business (e.g., lodging, retail, transportation, public facilities) to recognize and accept dogs with good manners. Another step beyond the basic CGC test is the AKC Urban CGC title, which tests your CGC skills in an active city or town setting. There are 10-steps to the test that your dog must pass to earn the official AKC Urban CGC title, but it is administered in a place where there are cars, streets to be crossed, noises, and fast-paced distractions. • Exit/enter doorway with no pulling in dog-friendly buildings. Exit building to start test, additional Public buildings items are below.​ • Walk through a crowd on a busy urban sidewalk. - People come toward the dog from 1-ft. away - Tolerate distractions (people wearing hats, coats, men, women, etc). • Appropriate reaction to city distractions. This includes movement, noises, and walking on a variety of surfaces. Examples: - Noises: horns, sirens, construction noise, etc. - Moving objects: skateboard, bike, carts, person running - Surfaces: concrete, grass, grates, plastic tarp, wet sidewalk • Crossing street: Stop at corner, stand or sit to wait and cross with no pulling (on leash, with owner). Crosses street under control. • Ignore food on sidewalk. (Dropped food, or cups, bags, cans, in which food was wrapped). • Person walks up and pets the dog. May be carrying an item such as a small dog in a bag, a computer bag, etc. Person does not put the bag down to pet the dog. • Public Building (that is dog friendly). Walks under control in building (slick surface, carpeted floor). Down stay (3 min) in lobby or outdoor area, or waits while owner has a meal or


Cancellation Policy

A signed Service Agreement must be provided to your pet sitter, dog walker or caretaker before service is provided for any period. All services are pre-paid only at the time that you schedule services. All cancelled appointments, school and daycare classes within the required cancellations period will be issued a credit for future use. A refund will be issued if requested. Once a training program has started, there are NO refunds. Booking this service is an acknowledgement that I understand and agree to the following cancellation policy terms. A minimum of 24 hours notice is required to cancel or reschedule a scheduled appointment, school day, daycare or session without penalty. Cancellation Charge Schedule: 0 - 24 hours prior to any service, and/or Holidays: Payment in full is charged (no refunds). 24 hours or more, prior to service or more: No charge, refund in full.
