What is Private Puppy or Dog Training?

Private puppy or dog training is one-on-one coaching tailored to your dog’s age, history, behavior, environment, and your household’s goals. Rather than following a shared class curriculum, you work directly with a certified professional dog trainer and/or certified dog behavior consultant on the skills and concerns that matter to your family.

You participate throughout the process, learning how to communicate clearly, support your dog, and practice between appointments. Each session includes time to review progress, ask questions, and receive personalized exercises, management strategies, and homework.

Dog behavior consulting helps you understand what contributes to your dog’s behavior and how to support meaningful, lasting change. It considers your dog’s emotions, learning history, physical well-being, environment, and daily routines alongside your family’s needs.

At Canine High School and k9HS Online, behavior consulting is included in every private dog and puppy training session. Carlos F. Morales, CDBC, CPDT-KA, combines practical skills with a holistic behavior modification plan, whether you’re raising a puppy, helping a rescue dog adjust, or addressing fear, anxiety, reactivity, or aggression.

Do I need dog training or behavior consulting?

You do not need to choose one instead of the other. Every private session with Carlos combines practical dog training with a behavior consulting perspective.

Learning a new skill and understanding a behavior often go hand in hand. A dog who pulls, barks, or lunges may need practical training, but their emotions, surroundings, and previous experiences also matter.

Carlos brings both professional dog training and certified dog behavior consulting expertise to every private session. His approach considers your family’s needs, your dog’s emotional and physical well-being, the environment, and everyone involved.

That means your plan addresses not only what you want your dog to learn, but also what may be making learning difficult. Your plan may focus on new skills, emotional well-being, management, behavior modification, or a combination of these.You do not need to choose between dog training and behavior consulting—both are part of your care.

Should I choose in-person or online training?

Choose the format that fits your household and circumstances. In-person sessions provide coaching with Carlos physically present at your home. Online sessions provide live observation and coaching through Zoom while you work with your dog. Both include his professional expertise and personalized approach; appropriate next steps are discussed during your Admissions Interview.

Can you help with reactivity or aggression?

Yes. Carlos provides individualized training and behavior modification support for reactivity and aggression, including resource guarding. Plans consider your dog’s well-being, your environment, and safety, with veterinary collaboration when needed.
