Program Overview This apprenticeship program with k9HS Head trainer Carlos F Morales CDBC | CPDT-KA is designed to guide aspiring dog trainers toward certification. The program offers a structured curriculum that combines practical hands-on experience, theoretical learning, and self-study to meet the knowledge and skill requirements necessary for a number of dog training certification exams. • Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of dog behavior and experience with dogs. • Program Duration: 6–12 months Objective: Equip participants with the skills, knowledge, and practical experience required to pass a certification exam and become effective, ethical, force-free trainers. • Class Schedule: Up to 20 hours of class. 5 Modules, 2 to 4 hours each Objective: Equip participants with the skills, knowledge, and practical experience required to pass a certification exam and become effective, ethical, force-free trainers. • Program Hours: 20 hours of hands-on training with dogs Objective: Equip participants with the hands-on experience to be able to apply dog training skills with family dogs. • Program Requirements: 40 hours of volunteer work at shelter Objective: Equip participants with the hands-on experience to be able to observe dog behavior in a shelter environment. • Program Structure: Module 1: Introduction to Professional Dog Training Module 2: Canine Learning Theory and Behavior Module 3: Practical Dog Training Skills Module 4: Behavioral Modification Techniques Module 5: Client Communication and Business Skills Final Project and Evaluation • Program Summary This apprenticeship program blends practical hands-on experience with theoretical knowledge to help aspiring dog trainers become competent, ethical professionals. With a focus on positive reinforcement, behavior modification, and client communication, participants will be well-prepared to pass a certification exam and begin their careers in dog training.
