Canine High School's AKC FIT DOG Swim Team School Program engages your dog's natural instinct to swim, dive, retrieve and channels that into an AKC sport. A program designed as a vocational enrichment opportunity for athletic dogs, working breed dogs and hyper, energetic pups to help them develop their swimming skills through coordination, endurance, recall, agility and fun. Let your pup exercise their mind and body with sports that engage your dog’s natural instincts to work and to problem solve. We teach skills which provide many dogs with a sense of purpose, fulfillment and happiness. * Before your dog can join our AKC Swim Team, which involves deeper water pools and ocean swimming, it’s required that they complete our Water Safety Preschool. This process could take as little as one week, or several, depending on the dog's individual personality and ability level. Our Swim School Program includes: • Training and preparation for the different AKC FIT DOG Titles • Develop swimming and water safety skills • Certified trainer in dog CPR by the American Red Cross • Rinse-off and towel service • Designed to be force-free, positive reinforcement based learning • Limited summer schedule on Tuesdays from June to August • Having the BEST summer of their lives! Even if you do not wish to pursue an AKC FIT DOG Title for your dog, this is a great program for dogs that need to channel high energy levels into a productive and fulfilling activity, your dog can engage in everyday sports of your choice. AKC FIT DOG is a fun AKC Family Dog program in which dogs can earn three levels of AKC titles by demonstrating their fitness skills. Each title requires a specific number of activity points to be completed, which varies based on title level. There are 3 levels of AKC fitness titles: • Bronze (FITB) • Silver (FITS) • Gold (FITG) Each week we teach our students different swimming skills and reinforce all the previously learned skills in order to build an arsenal strong enough to advance through each title certification. Parents receive video courses and tutorials to practice at home!
