Reactivity Management and Treatment for Dogs. This 8-week, force-free group class is designed for pet parents navigating challenging behaviors like barking, lunging, freezing, or growling—whether on leash, behind windows, or during greetings. Together, we’ll explore the difference between reactivity and true aggression and learn how to manage and treat these behaviors with clarity, compassion, and skill. Each 45-minute class builds on the last, combining safety-first management strategies with powerful training tools like desensitization, counterconditioning, and foundation cue work. We emphasize emotional threshold regulation, cooperative leadership, breed-appropriate enrichment, and veterinary support when needed. You’ll also gain an understanding of what’s happening in your dog’s brain—so you can respond with calm confidence instead of frustration. A systematic review of 2,836 U.S. shelter records from 2018 to 2023 identified behavioral problems as the most frequently cited reason for surrender, accounting for 28% of all relinquishments (Journal of Applied Animal Welfare Science, 2024). This course is designed to prevent dog relinquishment by empowering pet parents with science-backed solutions, accessible support, and a community that shares your commitment to doing better now that you know better. Format: - 8-week group class, 45 minutes per session - 15 minutes Q&A - Support group and online course with self-study materials recapping each LIVE class. Carlos is a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant and Certified Professional Dog Trainer with over 15 years of experience helping dogs and their humans navigate fear, reactivity, and aggression. He is the founder and head trainer at Canine High School in Long Beach, CA, where he leads a relationship-based, force-free school program for puppies and dogs, grounded in behavioral science, emotional regulation, and ethical handling.

You will receive his personalized recommendations and a training plan afterward. There is a $99 charge for this service, which will be fully applied as a credit toward your Private Training or School Pricing plan when you sign up.
