Welcome to Long Beach’s #1 Puppy School: Force-Free & Ethical Training for Puppies Aged 16 Weeks to 12 Months! At Canine High School, our K9 Kindergarten Program is designed to give puppies the early structure they need to grow into confident, calm, and curious young dogs. Using only science-backed, force-free methods, we help your puppy thrive socially, emotionally, and behaviorally during this critical stage of development. Over the course of 12 weeks, your puppy will build essential life skills, including: • Strategic socialization to people, places, dogs & new environments • Emotional regulation: arousal control, settling, and coping with novelty • Cooperative care: choosing to participate in grooming & handling • On-leash skills: auto check-ins, no-pull walking, and loose-leash turns • Redirection of mouthing and jumping, introduction to mat work • Frustration tolerance & working through distractions with focus Under the supervision of certified dog trainers and AKC Certified Evaluators, your puppy will be safely exercised, socialized, and taught with compassion. We work to prevent behavior issues like reactivity, separation anxiety, and resource guarding—before they start. Why Early Training Matters: Puppies aged 4 to 12 months are especially impressionable. That’s why we thoughtfully incorporate gentle exposure to surrounding areas as part of their learning experience. With careful supervision and structured sessions, your puppy will practice skills in environments like: • Local parks • Quiet outdoor spaces • Calm, dog-appropriate settings near the school This real-world exposure builds your puppy’s confidence without overwhelming them, helping them learn to focus and feel secure in new surroundings. What You Can Expect: • Daily Updates: Photos and videos of your pup’s progress • Weekly Progress Reports: Stay informed and involved • Pop-Up Sessions: Optional 30-minute home sessions to support your household routines • Parent Involvement: Weekly in-person AKC Certification Prep Group Classes + Online Training Library access At the end of the 12-week program, your puppy will receive a Completion Certificate, and you’ll have the opportunity to earn the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Certification—a nationally recognized title for well-prepared puppies. The Admissions Interview (assessment) is conducted by our Head Trainer, Carlos F. Morales, CPDT-KA, a certified AKC temperament test evaluator. You will receive his personalized recommendations and a training plan afterward. There is a $99 charge for this service, which will be fully applied as a credit toward your Private Training or School Pricing plan when you sign up. We will help you schedule your Admissions Interview during your Call with Admissions.
